ow, the last and final WolfBat lies defeated. The group makes their way back to the keep. Fow Bang Chow decides to stay and take care of the three bodies, finding a safe place to lock them away while the others make their way to Ba Sing Se. Traveling by foot, the group travelers for 3 days without incident; until they see a group camped on the road up ahead. Rongo calls out “Who goes there?”
The men immediately jump into action, and the heroes overhear them saying “its them! Attack!”. The heroes get ready for a fight and move forward into position, sizing up the enemy. The mercenaries seem to contain 1 bender, 5 warriors, and 1 knight mounted atop a Triceratops. A terrible battle ensues as Rongo and are forced to deal with the knight, while Kio and Po-Po face the warriors and Earthbender. Meanwhile, Aumanil heads into a grove of trees to get cover in which to fire icicles from, but he is ambushed by a group of three yetis! Luckily, they attack a soldier who was coming after Aumanil first, giving the Waterbender time to defend himself. Po-Po, heading to the other side of the battle, feels an enormous tremor shake the ground, knocking him over. It is none other than a mighty frost wurm, drawn to the commotion in his territory. The violent action of emerging from beneath the ground knocks most of them over…
Mozzie quickly kills the knight atop the Triceratops and is able to assume command of the creature. Rongo hops on and the trio charge the ice wurm, piercing deep into its scales with the dinosaurs horns. The Wurm shrieks in fury and sends a terrible cone of frost at the attackers, a shard of ice piercing the hardy dinosaurs brain, killing it. The two heroes fall to the ground with the beast and the wurm lets out a fearsome shriek, locking Rongo in place with fear. Po-Po reacts differently and flies to the other side of the battle. Meanwhile, Aumanil is fighting desperately with Atka to defend themselves from the Yetis. He has manages to kill one and Atka battles another, but he doesn’t have much left in him. The enemy Earthbender runs away at the sight of this massive battle. As he turns to run though, he meets the massive jaws of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, here tracking the Triceratops for a meal. He has no time to react as the beasts enormous jaws close tight on the man, killing him instantly. The heroes begin to panic, this is a far greater threat than they could have ever imagined. The fearsome predator charges Po-Po who landed very nearby. Po-Po, rooted in fear, is unable to escape and the creature lunges at him. Po-Po is trapped in his jaws, but uses airbending to push at the jaws surrounding him and prevent a killing blow. Kio jumps into action and masterfully creates a blast of lightning, arcing through the sky and exploding on the beasts thigh. It roars in pain and furry, dropping the plump airbender. Mozzie drag Rongo behind the dead Triceratops body and throws a bundle of dynamite at the Frsot Wurm, landing them in its mouth and killing it. Shards of ice rain across the field, practically hollowing out the dead dinosaur and injuring the still fighting one. The Rex is weary of this encounter and seeks to grab a meal quickly, heading over to mozie and Rongo. Meanwhile, Po-Po comes to Aumanil’s aid and together they freeze the last Yeti and send it rolling with a blast of air. With a stroke of masterful skill combined with outlandish luck, the Yeti ball rolls up the hollowed out ribcage of the Triceratops and right into the face of the Rex, knocking the mighty creature unconscious. The group immediately gathers their things and run away from this outrageous scene.
After a few days of licking their wounds, the group comes before the Great Wall of Ba Sing Se. It’s smooth stone surface rises high against the mountain it is built into. These massive gates are the only conventional way into the underground metropolis city ofBa Sing Se. The giant wall is built into the side of a mountain through Earthbending, creating a wall that is easily defended by the Earthbender military inside the city. All who wish to enter Ba Sing Se must be admitted through the great gates. After the fall of the Exalted Emporium, the remnants of the once great Earthbender nation reformed from the ruins of its’ conquered culture. Originally the nation was a collection of walled cities in the Eastern region of The Land of Earth, but the enhanced powers of the Emporium Saarebas were too great for the once thought unconquerable defenders. After the fall of the Emporium, the reformed leaders of Ba Sing Se built a massive underground city to, to make future invasion attempts futile by all but an earthbender army; in which Ba Sing Se has the finest. Many people wonder about the practical long term application of a finite underground city with a rapidly growing population. Although it is common knowledge the underground city cannot be a permanent solution, it will be many centuries before it is an immediate concern. Until that time Ba Sing Se remains the largest and most secure city in the world.
